Awesome, that's only 1 year after Order of the Phoenix is released. If the final book is released next year, hopefully they start shooting the movie in early 2008 so it could get released in late 2009. That's probably wishful thinking but it'd be nice!

It'd be sweet if the final movie and book were released simultaneously, but it'll never happen.
Meanwhile, here's hoping Cuaron returns for the sixth or seventh movie, along with Williams (the only man who knew how to score these movies). |

Simultaneous book and film release wouldn't happen. Too great a risk of spoiling. Look at the recent Star Wars films - pretty much the whole story was pieced together from various leaks from the set. Plus it would probably dent sales of the book.
Besides, I like the fact that the Harry Potter series has got people reading again. |

Theres rumours going around that M Night Shyamalan will be offered Half-Blood Prince. Apparently he was offered Philsophers Stone, but rejected it so he could make Unbreakable. I can't get my head around how he would go about it, but hmm. We'll see if he's offered again.
I would love to see Cuaron back though. I used to want book 7 and movie 7 be released together too, only for the absolute Potter-mania that would ensue. It's not a very practical idea though, really. |

I wonder what Twist we would see? Hmm...maybe Dumbledore was dead all along.

Maybe Harry was a demented child who has really been locked in a mental home all this time after butchering his parents.

If Shylaman dares to pull a '... and then Harry woke up: it had all been a dream' stunt he'd have to go in to protective custody.

Protective custody will not save him - even they read Potter. He best do himself a favour and pop a bullet in his mouth.
He's said: "You know, that Harry Potter dance has gone on a long time. The problem is that it is a living breathing thing now, all by itself. When it comes over to my camp, it needs to be kind of handed over, adoption papers and everything. That's a tricky move." Thank moses that JK has final script appoval. |

OK, so two things to note.
1) Filming has started 2) Jim Broadbent is playing Horace Slughorn =D ![]() |

Whee! It's starting.
I read about Jim Broadbent being cast the other day, confirmed in an interview with the man himself. While he's not really how I picture Slughorn, as Richard Griffiths is already in the Potter films as Uncle Vernon Dursley, I'm not sure who I would've gone for instead. Simon Callow was mooted in some material I've read, but I don't quite buy him either. I'm happy enough with Jim Broadbent. Great actor, and he'll make Slughorn his own. I wonder how the hunt for the perfect Lavender Brown is going? If it were over by now (and I thought it would've been), there's remarkably little news. |

I've been reading a rumour that Stephen Rea is being considered for a part - but who in the hell would he play? A very brief cameo as Marvolo Gaunt? Fenrir Greyback, in the battle on the tower? That way he'd be in the final film too.
Rufus Scrimgeour is another new character who springs to mind, but that part could easily be written out without harming the story in the slightest. There's also a rumour Bill Nighy is interested in being in a Potter film (only two to go!) and would be considered as Scrimgeour - and based on looks alone, that makes sense. Nothing yet on the Stephen Rea website. At the moment I'll go with Fenrir. Similar rumour about Jack Davenport too. Blowed if I know where he'd fit in. |

I would have picked Nighy (based on looks alone) to be Fenrir over Scrimgeour personally. I'm not sure I want to see him be that nasty though.

Helen McCrory is Narcissa Malfoy
CBBC Newsround has announced that Helen McCrory will play the part of Narcissa Malfoy in the sixth Potter flick, Half-Blood Prince. Apparently, WB has "been after" McCrory for some time. You may remember that McCrory was originally cast as Bellatrix Lestrange in Order of the Phoenix but was unable to fulfill the role due to her pregnancy. ![]() |

Cool, she should be good. I'm glad she dropped out of OotP because IMO Helena Bonham Carter was perfect for the role. Still another year to wait for this movie

Helen McCrory would've been perfect as Bellatrix in her own way, but if we can't have her as Bella I'll settle for her as Cissy - even if she's not the icy blonde as described in the books.

Warner Brothers have put up a few quick clips from OotP, getting ready for the DVD release, and the site will eventually include a couple of sneak peeks at HPP. So far, there's only two stills, one of Harry with Dumbledore, one of Harry at a desk in front of window: harrypotter.warnerbros.co.uk/_sneak_peek/showVideo.html
Not much longer to go until we find out more: Lavender Brown has been cast, just not announced yet. Same for young Tom Riddle. A number of the girls who auditioned for Lavender's role have been posting on Mugglenet and The Leaky Cauldron, etc, about receiving letters thanking them for their interest and advising them that the role was filled. |
