Posts: 21932 (29-May-09 03:28 PM) Sweet as chocolate Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Tags : frogs I have no details yet as my parents are asleep (night shift) but they were both interviewed this morning by people from the telegraph about my neighbour so a story is being written about it all. They apparently talked to the neighbour for a good while as well. I don't know what she thinks this is going to prove or resolve but I guess it's a bridge not burnt yet. My parents would of been angry I'd say, working all night then coming home to it. I first got wind of something happen at work cause I work with the guy who lives across the road and his wife rang him. Apparently they were talking to next door out the front of our two houses for ages. Not sure if it's everything in general for the story, or if its maybe just about the dogs. We haven't had frogs in a while except out of the blue in the middle of the day a few weeks back. I hope there is a huge photo of her and I hope she looks dog ugly in it with her leather face. The Telegraph can be pretty bad if it chooses to be. They love a good tabloid crusade, just as much as ACA and TT. I hope your parents were as clear and reasonable as can be expected - however, the Tele will present the story as it decides to present it and can always find a way to make one side look like the evildoer.

Look at all this crap she has done over the last 12 years over nothing. What a nuisance. The one thing that might favour for us is at the moment our local councils have been running stories about nuisance complainers. So I don't know if any of them have ended up in the telegraph but I know they have in our local papers.

She wanted a story on the frogs but the tele people have told us the story is more about how things escalate. But with the media you just never know. They butter you up and do what they want with what you say. No idea when it's going to run if it does.

That serial nuisance complainer who has been getting all that attention is from the Central Coast, although probably a different council area to you. That would be a good line for your parents to push - no matter what you do to try to help her, she keeps having problems.

Yeah thats what I was thinking and we comply to her complaints as much as possible. For example right now the three dogs all have collars on to try and stop them barking when we are not home. One has the spray one, the other has an electrocution one and my Dalmatian has a fake electrocution one but she thinks its real from being zapped by the other one. The poor dogs all cower into a mess when I put them on them of a morning before I leave for work. My windows have sound proofing on them. It's a horrid pain in the ass. My room is always really cold in winter, really hot in summer, stuffy as no air gets in and it stinks in here cause the room is shut up. To get the thing off the window is such a pain. But what seriously does she want us to do with the dogs? Put them down? [is it even the dogs she is out to get though?]. They are not dogs that are in a backyard all day every day barking never getting attention and never leaving the yard. Most of the time they are inside and every afternoon they are all put into dads car and taken up to the power station where there is kilometers of grasslands, ovals and bush. No one ever here's this. If someone actually came and interviewed us properly and got all the facts straight from everything she has always complained about we would come off looking like kings. But no one ever has. It's just continued to snowball into a confusing ball of dog/frog/ant/spider/bush, fence, music etc complicated novel. It would take 5 books, or 5 movies just to tell the story properly because she has made it so complex. We need someone to stand up for us and say, this has to stop but no one ever does.

Sure, you're not guaranteed to make print and it's not likely to get as much coverage, but it's a neat option to throw a well worded rebuttal out there (and stick it to her, yet again!). And if the initial angle is against your side, you can always approach them to set the story straight -- they love that juicy stuff.

Full story is here. It is actually pretty even-handed. The frogs which come and go in the pond have become the flash point of a neighbourhood feud which began, innocently enough, over the colour of a new fence eight years ago. One side wanted mission brown, the other red. They settled on cream with red trim but no one was happy. Since then the Bertozzas have accused the Carr family next door of embarking on a "noise campaign" to make their lives a living hell. The Carrs, who have no intention of removing the 15-year-old pond, claim she is a vexatious complainer. Accusations and counter-claims of intimidation, spying, loud music, clunky clothes dryers and various salvos - including garden clippings and dog poo - were fired off over the much maligned fence. At the height of the feud a striped marsh frog arrived, sparking unfounded allegations the Carrs somehow enticed it to their pond and even went so far as playing a recorded loop of a frog's calls through hidden backyard speakers. It is interesting that they describe her silly frog allegations as "unfounded".

In the article she says she's now in fear for her own life. A frog? I'll give her frogs! It's not funny at all is it. Loon is too polite a term for her, she's absolutely beyond barking. Despite the rather sensational link title, the article itself (How a frog sparked an uncivil war across a suburban fence) isn't too bad and is a lot more even handed than I would've thought. Oh, and should you want to hear how deafening and threatening the striped marsh frog is, check out the recordings on frogsaustralia.net.au/frogs/display.cfm?frog_id=40. There's also pictures so you can see its pointy teeth, poisonous spines and giant claws, too.
