Dead or Alive? |
Lead | |
|
I found this rather interesting site, where you can search the database to see if someone famous has died. You can search oldest/youngest celebrities to die,
and rather curiously, how they died. Their causes of death are alphabetical, and I was rather surprised to see Various as a reason, but laughed when I saw
who it was!

Well, Richard Pratt and Stephen Hawking would both be on the watch list as of today...
ETA: Gawd, five people I've just looked up aren't even there. Maybe that means they don't exist! |

I am glad to see that Martin Gardner, the mathematical writer, is still going strong at 94.
Lot of names there I don't know. |

Oh my goodness, I can remember my year 10 maths teacher introducing me to Martin Gardner. (This is the same teacher who helped me nick Kasner's Mathematics
& the Imagination from the school library as no one had borrowed it for about 200 years so he thought I'd offer it a more loving home.
I have tried to add Dame Beryl Bainbridge, one of my favourite authors and five times unsuccessfully shortlisted for The Booker Prize. I'm expecting a human probably checks the submissions so if she ends up on the database I'll add a few more. |
