Yeah, but Sam should have gone earlier really. He only got through in Hong Kong because they were in pairs and Andre's sucking pig pulled him through. Sam
didn't do a good entree, and his dessert was a disaster.

As someone who was upset to see Justine go while Sam and Andre are still in the competition, I just have to agree with you - again.

I didn't like that challenge - I don't think it was very fair. Basically it depends very much on the likes of the individual sailors. As the OC said,
one of the favourite dishes on the ship was lamb shanks, so Justine had a big leg-up there purely on the basis of the dish she picked. Very much a lucky dip.
I thought Tom's dish seemed perhaps a little too fiddly and subtle. I was surprised Poh's soup did well. The challenge was different to (say) the Observatory catering challenge where the voters would probably have tasted all the foods. In this case it's unlikely anyone would have eaten all 7 meals. |

Well no, I think the chief or whatever they called him was probably the only one who tasted all 7, but surely part of being a chef is choosing a menu for your
customers, and choosing meals that people are going to want to eat.

That's true, but they had no opportunity to survey the crew or ask what would go down well, they just had to make a wild guess. At this stage of the
competition I don't think a guess of that nature is a fair basis for ranking contestants.

When people open new restaurants, do they go and survey all the local residents and surrounding suburbs?

They don't stand or fall on one night - they play with the menu for a few weeks at least based on what people seem to be liking. They don't have just
one shot.

Justine, Julie, Andre, Tom and Chris all managed to make good choices. The only ones who really failed in their choices were Poh and Sam.
I'm pretty sure the navy chef said that curry should go well, it's just that Tom's was bland. and I also thought he said the couscous should go well, but one of the sailors said Chris didn't cook it as well as his wife did (even tho the chief or captain or whatever liked it best). Restaurants don't just have one shot, but opening night would be very important and a lot of thought would go into the menu. possum |

The only thing that disappointed me about tonight was that they brought 3 ex contestants back. THREE. That's two too many. When they said three I thought ok, the one who does best tonight will be able to stay, but no, they are ALL staying! Yeah I thought the same thing. Yeah I do agree Sam should have gone over some others. But I def want him to beat tom!

I'd say that they made fortuitous choices rather than good choices. I would agree that Sam making something summery was a bad choice given that it was a cold day. And yes to the three people coming back being a bit much. It is more of a Biggest Loser-type gimmick twist. |

If there is one thing I hate it's when reality shows bring back eliminated contestants like this. This has the Biggest Loser written all over it. One
returning would be okay but three is too mcuh. Although having said that I do believe that Justine and Poh are better cooks than Sam at the very least. But I
just want Andre to win, he is my favourite by far!!

Well Sam is safe again.
I thought it was interesting how last time they had this challenge Sam and Poh left the easy ones to last, but this time Tom jumped right in with eggplant. possum |

Missed it again, but I'm glad Sam survived. Sure he's no Poh or Justine, at least to me, but it did seem a bit rugged to get so far and then possibly
be knocked out by a contestant given a second chance.
How are the four who've been there all the way through reacting to having Poh, Justine and Tom (briefly) back in the show? |

How are the four who've been there all the way through reacting to having Poh, Justine and Tom (briefly) back in the show? I didn't see it last night but tonight Chris made a comment about how he hoped that Sam would return from the challenge because he thought that he dserved too as he had been there during the whole process. |

One thing I like about Chris is he is reasonably up front about his feelings. Obviously Sam knows that Chris thinks he has been there a bit long because he
said "Sorry, Chris" when he came back to the house after the elimination. So it's not as if Chris is sitting bitching away to the cameras with
Sam oblivious. He is also often the one, when everyone's sitting round on the couch, to make a firm statement rather than a nicey-nicey fencesitting one
like all the others.

well well well, look who the cat dragged in!
just a quick visit MP, or will you be staying a while? |

Chris does look a bit like the sort of guy you wouldn't want to meet down a dark alley. I find the tattooed arm particularly offputting - just a really
dirty vibe to his appearance.
