Political opportunism is really annoying.

The Shooters Party have a couple of seats in the NSW Upper House (don't ask). Despite being a party with a fairly limited platform, the Govt can use them to get through legislation that is blocked by the Greens.

Generally they take the Fred Nile approach and vote with the Government on the basis that the Government has a mandate.

However, they have recently put forward a bill to allow hunting in national parks. The bill is opposed by the Government - unsurprisingly, given that national parks are supposed to be about protecting animals, not coralling them in some game park.

And because of that, the shooters are now voting against all Government legislation.

And because of that, the treasurer is trying to get the Government to change its mind on the Shooters bill because he wants their support for some revenue measures that the Greens oppose, like the selloff of NSW Lotteries. Of course, the selloff of NSW Lotteries has nothing to do with shooting furry animals in national parks - but now, the issues are tied up together for some dumb reason.

It just pisses me off when decisions on legislation are made for reasons that have very little to do with the actual merits of the legislation, and everything to do with unconnected agendas.

So I want to nominate the Shooters Party for being put up against the wall. Poetic justice, really.

(ETA: Curiously enough, one of the Shooters MLAs is called Bob Brown. You wouldn't want to get him mixed up with the other one.)

National Parks in all states are run by the States, not the Commonwealth - but for some idiotic reason are called National Parks. Go figure.

Apparently Kochie and Joe Hockey are going to climb Mt Kilimanjaro together.

Tanzania can be an iffy country - I'm sure there are some locals who could be persuaded quite easily how much better the world would be if a couple of people were to slip...

People who go to a busy digital photo processor, start making their order, then stand around taking mobile phone calls and stop working on their order.

Oh yes, I've posted something very similar in the sporking thread. The only thing I'd add is - shame on 2DAY and all involved for even contemplating that this was an appropriate way to deal with a daughter who clearly had problems.

Reminds me of a stunt a few years back where they outed some married guy on live radio for seeing other men, much to the shock of his wife, after his confused and angry son called in needing help with the issue.
