"Following a preliminary examination of the late Michael Jackson, doctors have narrowed down the cause of death to four possibilities: * heatstroke; * lycanthropy; * dipsomania; or * overexertion caused by dance rehearsals for his upcoming shows. In other words, they said, they blame it on the sunshine, moonlight, good times, or boogie." (Yeah, the lycanthropy one doesn't sit that well, but what other moonlight-related ailments are there?)

Channel 10 are flogging a Michael Jackson special for tonight. [Fake Sombre Voice] Direct from the US, The Life... and Death of Michael Jackson[/Fake Sombre Voice]. I'm sure all the other channels are too, and you have to wonder what sort of tripe's being run in these 'specials'. I hope someone out there is broadcasting a celebration of his life and work - and perhaps that's what Ch10 are doing, but the voice over guy makes it seem otherwise. |

Classsic example of what Srev and the Chaser boys have said. Someone like Michael Jackson who was ridiculed and the butt of many a joke in life is now being
seen as a 'hero' in death. There is no disputing the man was a musical genius, but everyone is conveniently fogetting his crazy life, which he
exploited himself. Tabloids are always going to run with stories, but many of the more recent 'wacko' moments were his own doing.

It surprises me a bit that so many people are telling Jacko jokes in public, like on radio & TV. Normally there is a bit of a public moratorium on such
things, even though in private a lot of people go on with them, on the grounds that the jokes may be "disrespectful". Maybe in this case Jackson is
considered so much of a joke figure by so many people that they don't care.

The Daily Tele is today having a whinge about the
Chaser making Michael Jackson jokes last night.
Given that most other comedy shows have made such jokes too, including the much more mainstream Rove, it's a bit rich that they home in on just one.
