The work of Michael Jackson |

Whatever you think of the man it can't be disputed that he had a massive impact on the music world, not only through his music (he was one of the major
artists whose work helped "black" music become accepted on "white" music stations in the US, and who led to the R'n'B genre being
the powerhouse it is today), but also through his videos (which incorporated complex choreography, storytelling, high production values and at times
groundbreaking special effects).

The first song of his I really liked was the theme song to Ben. Yes, a love ballad about a rat!

Black Or White is my favourite song of his. Love that video clip featuring Macaulay Culkin. Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough is my other favourite.

I loveeeee all MJ songs. His clips were always amazing..something to look forward to and what he would do next. I love how he appeals to everyone as well...If
I was asked to name a beatles song I probably wouldn't be able to name one. Yet any old MJ songs I could name. Dunno whether that's because I grew up
with him, but hope his music continues through the the rest of the decades and lives on to all the new generations.

Yeah, it's not widely regarded as one of his best, but I dunno, I always liked it as a kid.

Survivoreviver wrote:Ok i lie. Yellow submarine. But that's only because someone sang it in karaoke on the 2 night cruise I did a few weeks ago... Off the top of my head I couldn't think of the names of any others. MJ always comes on at clubs as well, never hear the beatles, didn't grow up with it. So don't know them well. MJ came on heaps while I was out friday night, Black or White went off and we all clapped at the end.

Yellow Submarine could really go off in clubs.

MJ came on heaps while I was out friday night, Black or White went off and we all clapped at the end. Yeah, Rage went through as much of his back-catalog as they could on Saturday morning. (Is it wrong of me to only recognise 'Ben' as one of the songs he sang on The Simpsons?) |

Can't be bothered looking for it but I saw an article on UK Reuters which said that the promoters of the London concerts had taken extensive video footage
of the rehearsals and there was a good chance they could put together an album & DVD. Jackson has never done a live album (not surprising really given most
of the music is prerecorded anyway, defeating the purpose somewhat). No doubt they will be trying to salvage what they can from what must have been a very
expensive exercise for them.
All concert tickets can be refunded in full - however, apparently you will be able to opt to receive the tickets as a souvenir. |

That's cool about being able to keep the tickets as a souvenir.
I would love if they put together an album and dvd from the footage of the rehearsals. I'd buy it.

You and several million others, Em. If there's a way to make it happen, I'm sure the opportunity won't be missed.
That is good about the tickets, too. For so many people it will be the closest they ever got to seeing him live, and will have meaning for them. |

Mind you, if you choose to get the ticket, you don't get a refund - even though no show comes with the ticket. So - not quite so cool.

They said on Entertainment Tonight that the tickets have artwork done by MJ, so that might persuade some people to keep the tickets. I wonder how many will
end up on ebay.

I'm sure something could be worked out for refunds, plus an administrative fee if you wanted to keep the tickets as a memento. This is an unusual
situation.
Going back to The Beatles, there was a group of people I used to bushwalk with who passed the time by singing through Beatles records in order, from Rubber Soul onwards. I was hopeless at it and could only ever manage Sgt Pepper even though I didn't know all the lyrics. Abbey Road is my favourite, though. |

Teehee. I find it weird that the movie is on a limited 2 week release, but whatevs. I know I'll be there, and more than once! Such a cool poster, too.
Ahh, I miss him. Obviously devastated that I won't be going to see him live, which has been a long time dream, but his legacy will live on. More than anything I'm just disappointed that he didn't get the chance to prove all his skeptics wrong -- he was so close. The film should do some justice, at least. The trailer debuts during the VMA's on Sunday.
