How much do you pay.. |

to go to the cinema? I ask this because I notice that a lot of you guys seem to go to the cinemas regularly. I hardly ever go as tickets are $13 and I find
that to be a complete rip-off. Do any of you guys pay less and are there any good deals to be found?

My cinema down the road (greater union) has this card thing they gave me where I can watch a movie for $10. Also if your a member with the cinibuzz thing
Greaterunion offer they have a movie of the week where its only $8 for that movie for the whole week.

Yeah ours have a Star Card where you get $10.50 tix, although if someone I know is working they usually just scan me for a child ticket ($9.50). New cards come
out every six months. All this month though we've been able to buy $8 tickets online through Cinebuzz.
What cinema do you go to K? I'd imagine the AMC at Kippa Ring/Redcliffe? Cinebuzz have their points system now too, which is good. I've already racked up enough points for three free tickets.

I haven't been to the movies since I moved but yeah, it'll probably be the Redcliffe AMC or Strathpine BCC. That Cinebuzz thing sounds interesting, I
may have to try that.

Thanks, I'll check out Cinebuzz too as it's free.
Kolos, I don't think $13 is a rip off. It's hard to find live shows under $20 any more, and a lot of cinemas are charging $15+ too. But yeah, I do my best not to pay full price if there's any other way. Movies can be pricey although I recently had a lot of Hoyts discount vouchers that I couldn't use as they weren't showing enough stuff I wanted to see. I realised what the expiry date was a couple of weeks ago when a mate and I were in a queue at the cinema for a movie (Ghost Town, wait for the dvd) she had free tickets for so I walked up and down giving my discount vouchers away. Fortunately I found two unemployed blokes who said they'd take any I had left over, and I have visions of them and their mates seeing a movie a day for the rest of the week... I'm used to paying anything from $7 to $15 depending, as I try to go on tightarse Tuesdays and so on. I used to have a Screensound Australia card that got me discounted tickets in a lot of places but then cinemas introduced their own cards and dropped out of that scheme. I'm not interested in paying for a cinema card for any specific chain as I don't know if I'd get my money's worth out of it. Mind you, a mate of mine belongs to Palace, has a cinema only three blocks away and apart from her membership also gets other great deals that benefit me a lot of the time. At the other end of the scale, I recently bought Director's Suite tickets for my bro and sister in law online and the bill was over $70. |

And while I think of it, the Director's Suite can be good if someone else is paying but the seats in the front row are as crappy as the seats in the front
row anywhere - just much more expensive.

$0 for tickets (I get unlimited complimentaries for me and one friend.. don't ask).
And I pay $6 for two large drinks and a large popcorn, instead of $14. |

Tickets in Sydney are generally around $15-$16 if you are paying full fare but I rarely pay that.
If you go on cheapskate Tuesday it's about $10.00. Most chains have cheap online vouchers and things that you can exploit. You can buy books of tickets that work out at around $10 each. And through my health fund I get $10 tickets. I have a GU Cinebuzz card - not quite sure how I got it - but I am never sure exactly what it gets me. So many frickin' loyalty cards these days. They have a "Director's Suite" at Hoyts Fox Studios but the one time I went there the tix were normal price - they were using it just like a regular cinema. Generally though I only go to see a film at the cinema if I think it is one that visually demands it. Many I wait for on DVD so that it's only $3.50 or less (if you get the right deal).

Cheap tuesdays are always the best time to go. It depends ont he cinema really. A few weeks ago went to some cinema where tickets for all movies are only $10,
but soon found out why the cinema was so old and dirty. I think it's worth it to go to a good cinema and pay those few extra dollars.

I don't care what I pay. I just go when I want though that thing Dal mentioned (the cinebuzz thing, not his small cock) is I think what we got last time. I
then buy my obese popcorn and coke.

Unfortunately most of the movies I see are at Hoyts so I think I've only used the Cinebuzz once. I don't like GU much because of the silly reserved
seating thing that they do at my local one.

I don't go to the movies very often, but when i do, it's usually to Randwick Ritz. They charge $11.00 for adults.

^ Agree. I swear whenever its an opening weekend for a movie and its a pretty popular one, you always see a fight over someone sitting in someone's seat.
