I enjoyed it a tale of three young lads trying to get rich quick and the soundtrack has some brilliant Lebanese/Middle Eastern music on it.

Adventureland (for the second time)
This is far and away my favourite film of 2009. The story is nothing new really, but it still felt fresh and different. The soundtrack is amaaaaazing. Crowded House, Lou Reed/Velvet Underground, INXS, The Replacements.. all unfuckwithable. Best movie.

Goal! 2: Living The Dream
I watched this as my obsession with football is growing. It was not so great. Story was cliche, it was pretty cheesy and there wasn't enough footage of actual players for my liking. I'd give it 8/19

500 Days of Summer.

I usually hate romantic comedies but in fact this has a lot to commend it. It's well made in many ways. It has a nice quirkiness to it that is so much more real than the forced quirkiness of (say) Juno. Hated the soundtrack but I can forgive it that. So many American rom-coms are ridiculous scream-fests with Sandra Bullock and Matthew McConaughey in absurd situations. This one was quite real. In some ways it reminded me a bit of Annie Hall.

Wow! It looks good on my crap telly, so it will be light years better on your super new telly. I do admit getting a bit sick of the ascent of man stuff, but once we're on the ship and HAL's still only just working up to not opening the pod bay doors, I wouldn't miss a minute.

The Uninvited
Thought it was going to suck when I first began to watch it... but turned out really good. Liked the twist that apparently everyone on imdb.com seen coming but I was blondely oblivious.

The Strangers
I did like this movie and it was quite freaky but what annoyed me is the fact it leaves so much unanswered. You never see the strangers faces, the only reason you are given as to why it's happening is 'because you were home' and you just don't...

An Education

I saw it with, shall we say, an "older generation" of women who probably remember quite well the way things were during the period this film was set. We all agreed it was very well acted and the somewhat ickiness of the central romance was handled very well. Love the Beast, an Eric Bana doco about his car that he's owned since he was 15. One for car lovers, which I am, so I enjoyed it! Ordered it off ebay today, for Dad for Christmas.

Whip It. Drew Barrymore's directorial debut, starring Juno baby-momma Ellen Page. I'm besotted with it. Debutante teen defies parental expectations to her small town cocoon and become roller derby queen. Hilarious and heartwarming. Drew did well.

I was quite interested in this until Jake Wilson (The Age) described it as a hack job, and generally ran it down as being a nice enough idea but very pedestrian in realisation. Nothing you've written has changed my mind in the least. Oh well, still lots of other films I want to see that I probably won't get to.

Have been re-watching the Harry Potter movies. Azkaban is still my favourite.

Surrogates.

Not going to write a full review. Interesting premise - in a futuristic world people stay shut in their homes and conduct their lives through surrogates, robots which are controlled by their thought processes and which transmit sense data back to their controller. Crime and injury drop massively - but then someone starts using a new weapon on surrogates that kills not only the surrogate but also its controller. This is one of those 1hr 27min quickies timed to turn over...

Boyz n The Hood - bit of a classic now, its nearing the 20 year mark since it was made. Stars Cuba Gooding Jnr and Laurence Fishburne. Had never seen it before, but watched it yesterday and really enjoyed it. Was really sad towards the ending.

So far I've seen The Two Towers and Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets and will be seeing The Two Towers again tomorrow. Oooh, but I've got it bad. Boromir and Haldir may be gorn, but now Faramir's on the scene... Where's that emoticon for swooning?

Am also planning to see the new Mike Moore doco next week. Quite a contrast to the...
